EU Citizens rights

EU Citizens rights

The rights of the citizens of the Union are primarely related to the voting right and the possibility for running for election to the European Parliament and for municipal election in the country of residence. The citizens of the EU have the right to free movement and residence in the European Union. At the same time, they have the right to a diplomatic and consular protection from any member state of the EU.
The alignment of these requests to the right of the EU is usually performed towards the end of the accession process.
